I studied
medicine in many countries, particularly in the East, and Babylon,
where they have
great wisdom. Though I must admit the medical tradition in Egypt is second
to none.
|
I have a great deal of experience of field surgery and have served various
armies in the course of my travels around the world. You would be
surprised to see the bits I have sewn back on!
|
My personal speciality is trepanning. It is a very old technique involving opening the
skull by making a small circular opening (about a thumb's breadth) in the
bone. This relieves the pressure caused by a haematoma (a blood clot) and
is a very useful technique in cases of severe concussion - such as might
be caused by a blow from a horse's hoof, or from a club. |
In my toolbox you can see the implements of my trade. But
it might be better you not look until after I have treated you. |
Here is my apprentice Mara again; she serves as a nurse, among other
things. She has highly skilled hands but is under a vow of silence. So you can tell her all your
secrets. |
By the way, I am still looking for staff for the surgery. I need
competent, strong orderlies who can carry a stretcher and hold down the
sick while I operate, and nurses to comfort the patients. Please email me if you can help,
or if you would like to sign up.
Now click on the toolbox and follow Mara into the surgery. |
